The Central Laboratory for Isotopes and Elemental Analysis
The Central Laboratories for Isotopes and Elemental Analysis is provided with Ion Plasma - Mass Spectrometer model (JMS-PLSMAX2). The high separation power helps avoiding the interfering problems that arise during analysis of elements or compounds having close masses .In addition, the instrument has a laser scanning facility to analyze the solid samples without any chemical treatment.
The inductively coupled plasma – Mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) has the following advantages:
• The instrument can analyze most elements of the periodic table in a very short time.
• The sensitivity is as good as to the in part per trillion range (PPT).
• Isotopic ratios analysis is one of the most important properties of this instrument among other techniques.
• Applications in fields like (Geology – Environment – Industry – Nuclear – Medical – foodstuff).
The Central Laboratory for Isotopes and Elemental Analysis is also provided with other instrument such as X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer, Ion Chromatograph, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer and Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive S-Ray Spectrometer.
